Blue Tower (2) is a sequence of long shots on the journey into and around a large retail park in East London . The tower featured in the film stands at the centre of the park, it has no function but acts as a purely decorative symbol to attract shoppers.The implied narrative of the work is constructed by mixing image and sound to create filmic moments that address the irony of the inviting world of consumerism and the underlying darker forces that underpin such superstores.
Influenced by American science fiction movies from the 1950’s and 1960’s the work is shot on Super 8 film and the accompanying soundtrack is mixed from a collection of atmospheric movie sound scores.
